galettes to make your life better

I love galettes. They are so easy to make and they can be filled with virtually anything. That buttery smell, mmm, tasty! It's one of the few things I can bake in my silly oven (which works disastrously). The only aspect I dislike about making galettes is the waiting. The dough must spend an hour or so in the fridge before rolling it. I don't do well with waiting, but if at the end I'm gonna stuff my face with some apple galette, I'm willing to make an effort. So, galettes, yes, I do love you!

(sorry, no recipe, it's just a "praise of the galette" type of post. you should search for a recipe in Pinterest, there are loads of them!)

A quick getaway? I'm in.

Early in July, I treated myself with some days in Buenos Aires, which is always a joy. There's so much to see, visit, buy and taste that I get a bad case of anxiety. This time I wanted to enjoy more, forget about the things i would not be able to do, walk a lot, take pics, look around, write on my travel journal, drink lots of coffees. Thankfully, I managed to do all that and more. You see, I live a bit far away from Buenos Aires. It's 9 hours by bus (and I never sleep on buses) so when I plan a trip to the capital city i have to take advantage of time and money. Now, it's time for me to shut up. Feast your eyes, for Buenos Aires -though expensive- is beautiful!

Isn't it just amazing?
Hope one day you can visit too if you haven't yet.

Oh, and why not throw in a today's song too?

Last, but not least. This is happening soon.

I'm too excited!

Over and out.

First signs of Autumn

One of the first trees to show autumn around here is the ash (fresno, in spanish) and we have quite a lot of ashes in my neighborhood. My parents planted two of them, ages ago, to protect our house from the heat in summer. Their leaves started turning yellow early in March and the view is so amazing... by mid April they will be totally golden. I could spend the whole season taking pictures of them...

A short walk on a Saturday morning

I went for a walk around my neighborhood and came back with a few pictures of the view. They were taken with an iPod touch so... sorry for their poor quality. While walking and breathing in the fresh air, I listened to Vance Joy, a young Australian singer who has just released his EP "God loves you when you're dancing". I like the first single, "Riptide", in particular. Puts me in a good mood and makes want to dance. You can watch the song's official video (very bizarre) here or... see him singing it and playing the ukelele.

More nature

My mom's plants, from a rainy day, not long ago.
Here it's been rainy for the past two days and I can not be happier.

For the friends up in the north, happy last weekend of winter, and for all of us down in the south, happy last weekend of summer! Autumn is heeeeeere!

and why not? 20 facts about me

Considering that I just started with this blog and you readers may not know a thing about me, I though I should join the '20 facts about me' frenzy and confess a thing or two (or twenty). Feel free to comment if you share any of them. Here we go!

1. I like learning new things and taking short courses.
2. I daydream about visiting Europe. And living there too (but that's just so out of reach).
3. I overthink and over-reflect constantly, which is no good.
4. I consider myself an openminded person and though I don't always succed, I try not to judge people's life choices.
5. I'm an only child and so is my mum.
6. I just found out that I've a highly sensitive type of personality, according to this. And that explains a lot, or almost everything.
7. Ever since I adopted my cat Clementine in 2007 I became a crazy cat lady. I say silly things, cuddle and stroke every kitty I see.
8. I'm kind of a loner and I quite enjoy it. Have no issues with being on my own for long periods of time.
9. You will hardly see me playing any sports or having an outdoorsy life.
10. I am definitely NOT a morning person and I don't like talking as soon as I get up. I need an hour or so before I wake up completely.
11. I'm always trying to make people laugh just by being goofy.
12. I'm a socially useless person. Never know what to say or do when I'm with other people, especially if I just met them.
13. I suffer from extreme anxiety (but it doesn't show and people never can't tell) in the most annoying possible ways. So imagine what point #12 does to me :P
14. I always say that I'm a 'city animal' but I'd love to live in one of those old tiny country villages in the UK or France, or somewhere in the woods in North America.
15. I love autumn and winter, cloudy skies, rainy and cold days with all my heart. In fact I would skip awful summer every year if I could.
- bear with me, I'm almost done, I promise!-
16. I love reading, but ever since internet came into my life (in 1999) I've been reading a lot less, shame on me, yes.
17. I was a very good student, top of the class, flag bearer and all, all through primary school to University but always had trouble finding (and keeping) a proper job.
18. I have lived in the same city, house - room!- for the past  33 years. But that's about to change soon, hopefully.
19. I need to change things in my life frecuently. I would say every 6 months.
20. I don't see myself having children, not even in the future. Or a husband, for that matter :P

Done. I bet I bored you to death with the list so, in return, here's a music recommendation for you. Last week I got Beck's new album, 'Morning phase", which is surprisingly good, not because he makes bad music but because I had never payed attention to him or thought I'd like his work. Listen to blue moon, one of my favorites from that album.

PS. Hi! Yes, that's me - a selfportrait- but I have shorter hair now.

I walked and took pictures and then met a friend

(I got a little carried away with the pictures, didn't I?)

Yesterday I went to Bahía Blanca, a bigger city near mine, to meet a friend who was visiting her family. I had not seen her for ages! and as she's going through a rough patch we chatted for hours and hours over tea and sandwiches. We had a lot of catching up to do. Before arriving to the Cafe, I walked a few blocks down Av. Alem, a very fancy and beautiful street, filled with posh houses with neat gardens and lovely old buildings. I pretended I had never walked that street before and tried to find new details and perspectives to photograph. And I guess I managed to capture a few nice shots of the avenue.

For the looks on these pictures you would not see autumn is so close, there are still green trees and flowers everywhere! The day was a bit hot but not too much. Perfect for a stroll, listening to this gentleman I discovered thanks to toi and her exquisite taste in music.

Thank you for your sweet comments about the blog!
I really enjoy posting here.
